Socgen has issued a warning to its clients for a Global Economic Collapse! Seems the timing could not be better with 2012 in the movie theaters all over the world. Before one scoffs off Societe Generale’s warning one needs to take into context that they have been right in the past. One such instance was in May of 2008 they predicted a stock market collapse between 50-70%. Well that happened…(even though we have rebounded …sooo farrr…). Socgen is trying to be politically correct now and saying the “Worst Case Debt Scenario”. In all reality how far off the mark are they. How can a person make payments when he owes too much. The same can be argued for countries that have too much debt. Just the interest to carry the debt becomes not manageable at some point. Look at it this way…the total US private and public debt is 350% of the US GDP. Put it this way…it would take 3 ½ years to pay off this debt. Imagine we ran our personal houses this way? Socgen is not just speaking about the US… just look at the UK..Japan and the EU. It is truly sickening. Socgen came up with the unbelievable number of $45 trillion dollars world wide debt. So what does Societe Generale suggest? Obviously buy gold.. As much gold as you can…sell stocks….exit emerging markets… sell US dollars…buy government bonds…and buy agricultural commodities. Scary stuff… If you are trend follower…and the warnings/ predictions of Societe Generale come to fruition you should not just survive…. But you stand the chance to possibly make money from this “Economic Collapse”.

My name in Andrew Abraham. I have been investing in commodities and managed futures since 1994. I am a commodity trading advisor/co manager of a commodity pool who adheres to the philosophy of trend following. Trend following stresses a disciplined approach to commodity/ futures trading. Successful trend following and commodity futures investing requires patience, discipline and actively managing the risk. What sets us apart from other Commodity trading advisors and commodity pools is that we are not only concerned about the return on investment but how much risk you will have to tolerate to achieve your goals.

In the recent past years Social Media Marketing and Social Media have dominated and defined Internet marketing. The popularity of social sites like MySpace and social bookmarking sites like Digg has caused this push. Social media has two main components, user generated content and the networking capability allowing you to form groups of friends and others that you can share content with.

Sites like MySpace, Zubby, and Facebook allow users to create profiles using text, videos and pictures to design their pages. These can then be shared with a selected group of other people in a special “friends” network and if the user wishes these pages can be shared over the whole social network.

Sites like Digg, Flickr, Associated Content and YouTube allow users to submit links to their favorite news articles online, pictures, articles, and videos then vote on the content that others have submitted. The most popular content is displayed on the front page of the site and the other pages are available to the general public to browse through. These drive traffic to the site and to the pages that are bookmarked.

There are many different ways to use these types of sites, either together or alone.

The use of these types of sites to promote your products and services is what is known as social media marketing. The types of traffic you get once your content is discovered and becomes well known in social media are primary traffic and secondary traffic.

Primary traffic is the direct traffic from the site that you used to make your site popular. If you are using a site that has fairly heavy traffic like Digg to promote your site you could get a large amount of traffic in a short amount of time so you need to make sure your site can handle the traffic, otherwise it may crash.

Once a site becomes popular on a social media site it gets talked about. When people talk about these sites they post links to the site which draws more traffic to the content. This indirect traffic is the secondary traffic. It is the secondary traffic that continues to flow to your site after the initial surge of direct traffic slows.

The benefits of primary and secondary traffic coming from social media sites include exposure to your site initially. Once your site is known by the general public then organic traffic will begin and repeat visitors start to show up, as long as you have something to entice them to come back.

Natural links to your site are beneficial because they are given by people or companies who have nothing to gain from your business venture. These are generally from relevant sites increasing the likelihood that visitors are going to be genuinely interested in your products and services. These links improve your search engine rankings and improve organic traffic.

Social media marketing allows your site to get exposure in a larger site and to a larger group of people. If your traffic levels off you can use social media marketing to jump start your traffic and work on taking your search engine traffic to the next level.

The alternative for increasing your search engine traffic is using pay per click advertisement. Using pay per click campaigns can help you to sustain increased traffic from the search engines but this traffic comes with a price tag.

Using social media marketing is free and can increase your traffic and your ratings in the search engines. Getting your site notices a couple times a year in the social media arena can make your site popular enough to bring in traffic throughout the year.

Social media implies that you facilitate a two-way discussion, rather than a one-way bombardment of marketing messages. In short, this means that you stay engaged and in a discussion with visitors.

Social Media sites come and go like the wind. It seems like every 5 seconds some entrepreneur is just around the corner with another Digg or del.icio.us knockoff.

Hoping that whatever maneuver they can bring to the table will make them this week’s hot topic or at least clever enough to catch the eye of whomever might have some money and want to absorb some wicked bit of code or an entire social media community.

Social media (or new media) involves a LOT of things, a lot of tech, and could need a lot of resources (not necessarily money). When you say you do social media, and you want to launch a network of some sort, does that mean the entire process is done in-house?

Social media marketing can bring traffic and links to any website. Too often, marketers overlook the value of social media and tend to stick with traditional methods, while the younger generation of webpreneurs has employed social sites as an every-day strategy.

Social media is gowing at a such a rate that domains, websites and blogsites will increase in value due to the increased demand for webspace. The social aspect is driving the net into new territory and expands exponentially because of its viral nature.

Social media – as understood in a Web 2.0 context and has enabled us to play more effectively than was practical previously, on a global field.

Social Media has released us, freed us: and we won’t go back. Social media has been a great resource for both ideas and traffic for my blog. If you work and get noticed in social media and it gets passed around that’s a great way to promote your work.

Social media seek’s (in theory and in word, at least) a different kind of influence: peer review and approval. The medium and the form of discourse that it supports are wide open.

Social Media is a Branding Exercise – while social media sites can send you a lot of traffic very very quickly they can also be excellent places to do branding. Every time a reader or potential reader comes across you on a social media site the more you reinforce your brand.

Social media marketing is actually becoming necessary but it has to be done right. It is about the weight of numbers and it will bring some honesty, ethics and accountability back to doing business.

Social Media is conversational media in all its interactive forms including text, video and spoken words – whether face to face, over the Internet, over the airwaves or via mobile technologies such as iPods and cell phones.

A Social Media Club is intended to be a place where amateurs and professionals can come together to learn from one another, to understand each other and to work together on the things that make meaning in their lives – their personal passions, their professional endeavours and their noble pursuits.

Social Media, doesn’t even really exist as a subset of media. Everything is social now, we just expect it. Social media companies will race to provide metrics that show impressive results, but that’s not necessarily a good thing, especially given the ways measurement may shape investment and in turn shape the evolution of social mediums.

Social media campaign’s go far beyond the traditional agency model of media planning and buying. So do advertisers they actually get into the game and get their campaign’s out there.

Social media is changing the way online businesses advertise because control of the message is shifting to the consumer.

Social Media Optimization (SMO) is a new term that was recently coined by Rohit Bhargava and has since been taking on life of its own. SMO tactics can drive huge amounts of people to a website and can also determine whether a startup, website or idea will make it or not.

Social media will be the optimal place to market especially with a recession. Social networks are a rich source of HIGHLY niche audiences and therefore are highly target-able.

By: Mina N. Sirkin, Esq.

What on earth is Social Marketing?

Social Marketing is simply the act of marketing by digital connections to others on the Internet who are themselves connected to people with whom you want to associate.

How is social marketing different that advertising?

Unlike advertising which produces immediate results, social marketing does mot produce immediate results. It is geared to produce long-term bonds, which if cultivated properly, will result in new clients, but which results may not be immediate.

How do you participate in social marketing?

1. Join some social networking sites.

2. Link to your friends and business associates.

3. Start a relationship with the those who can influence (“Influencers”) lots of people on social networking sites, blogs and social tag sites. Exchange ideas, documents, videos, web links with your “Influencers.”

4. Cultivate the relationships which you built by a stream of regular contact by using either a CRM product, or sites such as ConstantContact.com.

5. Meet, greet and email your Influencers and social networking contacts whenever you can.

What are the better known social networking sites?

a. LinkedIn.com

b. Facebook.com

c. MySpace.com

What are social tagging sites?

Social tagging sites are the social sites where you can share “found content” or your “favorites” with others who share the same interest. Some examples of Social tagging sites are: Technorati.com, Del.icio.us, and Digg.com. There are many others if you wish to explore this.

What are social document sites?

There are many to sample. I have recently joined is Scribd.com. This type of site allows you to make new friends by sharing documents with other like-minded people.

What are social video sites?

One great example is YouTube.com. You can make new friends on YouTube who share your interests. For example, if you are targeting an audience in their 50s, you can search for music or topics of interest particular to that age group. Additionally, you can post your practice videos or introduction videos on YouTube and link them to your site.

How to use blogs in social marketing?

Write articles for blogs and post comments on other relevant blogs. Send links of your articles, blogs and blog comments to your social network.

This article is part one of five articles on this subject.

Building a Network Marketing Business is not so much about managing people as it is about leading others. You can manage from a very selfish vantage point but to maintain longer term leadership demands the ability to be others oriented. It means you do what is best for the people.

It has been noted that “the extent to which you are able to transform your self-concern into other-concern will determine your effectiveness in getting others to follow along.” Often the role of the leader is to learn to get out of the way.

However, looking at some management theory may give insight into better ways to motivate, empower, and lead others in you network marketing business. It can guide us in what to do. It can define principles for us. One such management theory is Herzberg’s Motivation-Hygiene Theory.

What Is It?

It a nutshell it defines satisfaction and dissatisfaction as disparate descriptors. It states that the opposite of satisfaction is not dissatisfaction. The opposite of satisfaction is lack of satisfaction. The same pattern holds true for dissatisfaction. While at first this may sound like the theory plays with words, don’t give up yet. I’ll explain. It has to do with the way we perceive our needs being met.

It has to do with the source or causes of the feeling our needs are met or not. Factors which my cause you to be dissatisfied are what Herzberg calls “hygiene issues”. What causes you to be satisfied are called “motivators”? You can define these as follows:

Hygiene issues are things like: pay; company policies, relationships with bosses, work conditions; relationships with peers; etc. Motivators could include factors such as: liking the work or what you do; recognition; challenge; achievement; opportunity for to learn and advance; and relationships with peers.

Notice that I included relationship with peers in both categories. If you have a negative relationship with your peers at work, it may be a source of dissatisfaction or a hygiene issue.

However, if you have a great relationship with your peers, it may be a great motivator since all of us have an innate need for community. Negative relationships often mean that we feel outside of their community or that no community exists.

How Does This Relate To Network Marketing?

How do these statements relate to network marketing? In network marketing you may be looking to replace your employment with something more entrepreneurial, which is a business of your own. You will do that through building a community of others that you will lead. Herzberg theory can be modified to assess your own issues within the business and those of the community you build.

For example, many people are in situations where they love their work, they feel a high sense of achievement, and are highly motivated. And yet, the pay may be low, they may not like the policies under which they work or some other factor. For example, a missionary doing social work in a third world country might feel that way. Highly satisfied and yet dissatisfied at the same time.

The same can be true with the people you lead in your network marketing business. They may not like the pricing structure, they may not like negative comments that sometimes occur, or may get discouraged when others quit the business. Leaders need to do the best they can to take care of these hygiene issues. Often this requires get new information or change the content of what you learn.

In the network marketing business, motivators are important because remuneration is based upon personal achievement. In the early days remuneration can be a source of dissatisfaction. The same is true for realtors, insurance agents, and others involved in sales. However, that doesn’t mean that your network will not have a great sense of satisfaction.

How Do You Apply This Theory?

Effective networking organizations will train their people how to develop themselves (achievement), be mentored (peer relationships), and learn of opportunity for advancement. All of these can serve to help the community you build to feel a high degree of satisfaction.

However be warned. As high as the satisfaction (motivator) levels may be, if the hygiene factors are not taken care of, they can often cause erosion of the motivators to the degree that the motivators are not strong enough to keep the person in the community. It is important to keep a good balance between the two.

Remember that as the leader, you still have limited abilities. You cannot make people do anything. The people in your business are building independent businesses. If they won’t learn methodology and then apply it to be personally successful in the areas that can lead to dissatisfaction, you cannot make them. You can only create the environment for them to succeed.

You need to provide the training and environment to deal with both hygiene issues and motivators. If you deal with hygiene issues only, your community will be unmotivated and drift away. If all you do is motivate but don’t help them with the hygiene factors, they will eventually see the motivation as hype.

Make plans to encompass both sets of factors. You can start by analyzing your present training, mentoring time, and meetings. Look at which factors you need to work on. Sometimes you have to polish the dull side to see the bright side. Keep the balance. You will be a better leader if you do.

There are many different methods of marketing your business website, on-line shop or e-commerce website, but for many business owners there seems to be a bit of confusion between what is considered generic back link building and what is a true social marketing campaign, and more to the point what is the aim of each marketing strategy?

Different SEO and web marketing companies will of course employ different methodologies to promote a site and more often than not you get what you pay for so to speak. Equally there is bound to be a crossover in campaign strategies the debate of which could go on for months, but the purpose of this article is to highlight the key differences and aims of each type of campaign not what any single campaign should contain.

Generic Search Engine Marketing

Typically the aim of a generic search engine marketing campaign (SEM) is to develop relevant and targeted anchor text back links to specific pages on your website to increase your sites link profile and authority in the eyes of the search engines.

This of course is all aimed at improving your website ranking and to ensure your website becomes “known” in the search engines for the particular key phrases you are most interested in ranking for.

Low level or cheap link building services often include article marketing, content distribution and directory submissions, although most professional Seo practioners will probably dismiss directory submissions as the quality of these links is generally very poor at best and sometimes dubious also.

Low level or cheap link building services can also take advantage of what have become known as social websites; typically these are in the form of blogs and other web 2.0 properties and even low level social bookmarking sites. Forum posting just for the sake of links would also fall under this category.

The quality of budget link building services can vary wildly but they are not to be sneezed at though, as in many cases especially in less competitive or tight niches they can prove to be very effective indeed and are often all that is needed to rank a site well.

Social Marketing Campaigns

Social marketing campaigns are quite different to generic search engine marketing campaigns although there can be degree of crossover in many cases. A true social marketing campaign is much more focussed to generating leads and brand awareness as well as meeting the targeted marketplace in its own backyard.

A social marketing campaign however is also generally considered to be much further up the evolutionary tree of link building so to speak and whilst it will still develop and reward you with good quality back links to your site, social marketing campaigns are generally of much higher quality in both their make up and also can require a significant amount of planning and preparation..

Typically social marketing campaigns will take advantage of prime and highly focussed Web 2.0 properties and business networking sites such as Face book, My Space, Twitter, LinkedIn, Ecademy and so on, as well as other complimentary web sites and social bookmarking sites such as StumbleUpon, Digg, Reddit and Del.icio.us to name but a few .

The aim of a good social marketing campaign is not to specifically develop back links per se (although this is bound to happen) but to develop either brand or business awareness in a defined market place where the products or services you or your company supply will or could be in demand.

It is also to establish you or your company as an industry authority, go to person or trusted advisor, or even a business that can help other people solve their own problems or critical business issues by the provision of quality goods and services.

The Downside of Social Marketing Campaigns

Whilst the advantages of a social marketing campaign are undeniable there are a number of downsides to which it pays to be acutely aware of.

The main downside of social marketing campaigns is the sheer amount of time and work that needs to be maintained to develop a businesses authority or profile across many sites.

These types of campaign are very hands on and involve ongoing social networking and subtle promotion of a business or brand as well as the generation of useful/helpful relevant content either for general publication or for posting on your own site as quality information pages or blog posts, or as donated content for other complimentary sites that are not in direct competition to your own.

It may be for example that you want to develop a profile on forums relevant to the markets you are trying to penetrate by posting quality useful help and advice (not just a link post), but if not kept up to date or live these profiles can quickly lose ground and your on-line identity will fade.

Most businesses pursuing social marketing campaigns as an ongoing strategy will be spending at least 10- 20 hours plus a week in one form or another and although this can be outsourced (often at considerable cost), typically this is done in house buy either the business owner or the marketing person primarily because the business has the internal product or service expertise to maintain a long term focus and generate quality content.

What Is Right For Your Business?

The correct or most successful strategy required for each business will vary tremendously which is why most SEO professionals will not even conduct a web marketing campaign without some form of initial consultancy or competitive market assessment.

If time is not one of your assets or your budget is tight then a generic link building campaign may be all that is affordable to you, but if you are in a competitive market and serious about your on-line business then it does simply not make good business sense to second guess your requirements.

Bite the bullet and employ the services of an SEO consultant even if only for initial consultancy as the advice you receive more often than not will be highly beneficial to the success of your on-line venture.
